PETS ARE FOR LIFE - PLEASE SPAY OR NEUTER

Our philosophy is all pets deserve a safe, secure and loving home for life.  These two kittens were adopted from the Rushville Veterinary Clinic in August of 2005.

The Schuyler County Humane Society was established in September, 2002 by five community members who felt that the animals in their county deserved better treatment.  Since it’s beginning more than 80 members have joined our cause and we are now well known in our community and beyond.  In partnership with city and county officials, we have established a leash law and a humane euthanasia program for impounded dogs.  We also have a “Help Pay to Spay/Neuter” program that has been very successful.  Our adoption program strives towards placing as many animals as possible in safe and secure homes for life.  We advertise a “Pet of the Week” in our local newspaper and we have tried to educate as many people as possible by speaking in our schools and to community organizations.

While we have achieved a lot in our first few years, it is our ultimate goal to build an animal shelter where animals can be housed in a safe and comfortable environment until they can be placed with a loving family or individual.  This is going to take a lot of work and funds to build and run a shelter 24 hours a day.  We are asking for your help.  Take a look at our website by clicking on the dots on the left hand side of your screen and see what we can do if we all work together.
