This is an organization of 20 volunteers who are on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Anytime the call comes in for a fire or rescue we will roll.
Our firehouse is located 1/2 block south of the city square in Virginia, Il. We have two engines, 2 tankers, and one brand new rescue. We are equiped with Hurst rescue tools, and a rescue air bag system and respond with the local ambulance company when called. We average about 30 runs a year with about one fourth of these being vehicle rescue calls. We provide fire protection for the city of Virginia and the rural area around the city. People in the rural area are charged a fee each year for protection and an additional charge if we respond to their property. Now the registration fee is $35.00 and the rural run fee is $500.00, these moneys are use to buy epuipment and training our volunteers.
