INSTALLING AND SETTING UP THE OPERATING SYSTEM

-Boot from the System CD
-Reinitialize the startup disk
-Custom Install the OS
	-Quicktime 3D
	-Maclink Plus
	-QuickDraw GX
	-Text to Speech
-Install any Network Card Drivers
-Rename the Hard drive (new hard drive name should be meaningful and unique)
-Clean up appearance of all finder windows (change View to List and resize)
-Copy Laserwriter 8f Extension to System Folder:Extensions
-Select Default Printer in the Chooser
-Remove all unnecessary extensions
-Remove all unnecessary Control Panels
-Setup Control Panels
	-Appletalk--Set to the appropriate Ethernet connection
	-Appletalk--Administrative Password and lock connection field
	-Apple Menu Options--Turn off Recently Used Items
	-Date & Time--set time zone, date, and time
	-Desktop Pictures--Set Desktop Pattern (#12 is a nice unobtrusive pattern)
	-General--Set default save location to Documents folder
	-Keyboard--Set Repeat speed to fastest setting
	-Memory--Turn off Virtual Memory unless physical memory is low (less than 32Mb)
	-Mouse--Set mouse speed to fastest setting
	-Monitors--Set colors and resolution
	-Sounds--Delete Quack sound in Alerts panel
	-TCP/IP--Set to the appropriate Ethernet connection
	-TCP/IP--Configure Settings (see TCP/IP settings page)
	-TCP/IP--Set Administrative Password and lock all fields
-Copy Vermya to the System Folder:Startup Items
-Set Vermya Server Address and settings
-Delete unnecessary Control Strip modules from System Folder:Control Strip Modules
-Make alias to Launcher Control Panel on the Desktop
-Add new folders to the Launcher in System Folder:Launcher Items
-Place and Re-size the Launcher window


INSTALLING APPLICATIONS

-Install Netscape Navigator (Stand Alone)
-Create Default Profile 
-Make an alias to System Folder:Preferences:Netscape Users::Netscape Preferences in Applications:Netscape Navigator:
-Disquise the alias as the application, then disquise the application
-Install RealPlayer (latest version)
-Install Shockwave (latest version)
-Install Quicktime (latest version -  Ver. 3 causes a conflict with Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.01)

-Install Microsoft Office
-Copy Scanprot equipped NORMAL Word template to Microsoft Word folder and fix paths to match startup disk
-Install Office 95-97 converters
-Install Word supplemental converters
-Copy Excel WORKBOOK template to System Folder:Preferences:Excel Startup Folder
-Set Excel Default path to location of Excel Help file

-Install Telnet
-Install Fetch
-Install Brown tn3270
-Install Eudora
-Copy HyperCard to the Applications folder

-Install Adobe PageMill
-Install Adobe Photoshop
-Install Adobe Illistrator
-Install Adobe Premiere
-Delete System Folder:Startup Items:Premiere Reminder
-Install Adobe Acrobat
-Install Acrobat Reader

-Install any other software that is unique to the machine(Toast, Apple OneScan, etc.)
-Add aliases to Applications to the Launcher
-Add aliases to Special Access Control Panels to the Launcher


SETTING UP THE ASSIMILATOR (See John's Assimilator Page for more details)

-Copy the entire hard drive to the server
-Create the Assimilator Application(s)
-Add all machines to be Assimilated to the appropriate Assimilator database
-Add any necessary finder labels to the Assimilator Image
-Copy appropriate Assimilator Application to each machine
-Zarch each machine
