J&S Railroad
The J&S is my HO Scale model railroad. I've named the road after myself and my wife, Shari (how quaint). The J&S is, once again, alive but under construction. The old 4' X 8' J&S has been dismantled and recycled as part of my new 6' X 13' layout. Shari and I have finally finished remodeling our Home Office/Train Room. The new layout takes up two and a half walls of the office. This gives me more room to work and a more interestng shape (much more interesting than the old 4 X 8).
About my Layout and Track Plan
The J&S is an entirely free-lanced coal/oil/frieght line. There is a lot packed into this 6' X 13' piece of real estate. The J&S features a double track mainline and two busy switching areas. The layout is my own design, developed using the trial-and-error method of track laying. For more information about the layout and my work in progress, take a look at my Layout Page and my Track Plan Page.
About my Rolling Stock...
The J&S fleet is off and running! My motive power is almost entirely Athern with a few older Model Power Units. Local switching duties are handled by Athern SW7's wearing the J&S Blue/White paint scheme. Main line frieght is moved by Athern GP38's and GP35's. For now, my Model Power F2's and F3's are Burlington Northern and Sante Fe, but I'm working on converting them to J&S as well.
My freight cars are a mixture of Athern, Model power, and Life-Like using Mchenry couplers. I am, however, arming all of my new rolling stock with Kadee couplers as well as converting my older units.
