Track Plan

The Original Rough Sketch:
This is a rough sketch that I drew a few months before I began construction. This was my first draft of a track plan for my new layout space. I originally intended to have small creek leading to a farm pond in the center of the layout. I have thrown out this idea in favor of a large river that takes approximately the same area as the pond. The river gives me a center focal point and a chance to use three different types of bridges. I have left "outside" mainline track the same (See Phase I below), the switching areas in the center of the layout have been changed.
Phase I - Mainline:
This sketch shows the progress included in Phase I of the J&S rebuild. The original farm pond has been scrapped and replaced by a large river with three rail bridges. The Mainline tracks are complete and trains can finally get back to running in circles.
Phase II - Johnstown:
This sketch shows Phase II, Johnstown. Johnstown is located on the right-hand (North) end of the layout and is the operations hub of the J&S Railroad. It features the Fleming Coal Company, the Starr Oil Company, and the J&S yard and maintenance facilities.
