Woodworking Project - Coat Rack
Back to the Rolling "M" Workshop Projects Page
Shari had been bugging me to biuld a coat rack for the entrance way of the Ranch and I needed an excuse to buy a router. So, here's what I came up with. Its a simple design, but it adds a nice touch to the entrance of our home. The coat rack is made of #2 pine and features a knikknack shelf and brass coat/hat hooks. The finish is Minwax Early American with a gloss polyurethane top coat. I also made a slightly longer version, left it in natural pine with gloss polyurethane, and gave it to my mother as a birthday present.
When Shari and I moved into the Ranch, we decided that our green on white kitchen needed some color. So, we began collecting Coca-Cola advertising and memorabilia as decor for the room. Our collection has since outgrown the kitchen's shelf space. So, I built this display shelf to house a portion of the collection. Its based on the same basic plan as the above coat rack. I simply left off the coat hooks and added two miniture plate rails. The finish is a couple of coats of green latex to match the kitchen.
