Woodworking Project - Picture Frame
Back to the Rolling "M" Workshop Projects Page
I bought this metal sign for my Grandfather for Christmas. The tractor being advertised is an International Farmall 400. Grandpa had one of these great old tractors on his farm when I was a kid. In fact, it was the first tractor I ever drove. The sign is an odd size, so I could not find a suitable frame to display the sign. If you can't buy it, build it! I made the frame of a oak bi-fold door stop trim. The profile of this trim stock lent itself quite nicely to becoming a frame. Of course, building picture frames "correctly" requires a couple of special (expensive) tools. Not being a picture framer, I made do with some careful chop box work and some fancy sanding. I like this frame so much that I'll probably make a set for some of the pictures hanging around the Ranch. The finish is Minwax Colonial Maple with a polyurethane top coat.
