Woodworking Project - Pine Blanket Chest
Back to the Rolling "M" Workshop Projects Page
This Pine Blanket Chest features mission style paneled sides, mortise and tenon jointery, and a cedar-lined floor. I built this blanket chest for my sister as a Christmas gift. It also gave me a chance to practice my mortise and tenon panel construction in pine before attempting a similar chest in oak for my own home. The dimensions of this chest may seem a bit out-of-wack, because the chest is sized to double as a window seat in a specific corner of my sister's bedroom. The purple cushion was sewn by a friend of mine, Leah. The dimensions are 60"l x 22"d x 18"h. The finish is Minwax Early American with a gloss polyurethane top coat.
