Outdoor Project - Planter Boxes
Back to the Rolling "M" Workshop Projects Page
The landscape at The Ranch like that of many old homes has gone through a lot of changes and several different "plans". The landscape has gone from just a few shade trees to being overplanted, overgrown, and undermaintained. Like each of the past owners of this property, Shari and I have our own ideas of what the landscape should look like. Part of our plan was to remove the flower beds around the back patio and replace them with a set of container gardens. These planter boxes are my answer to that challenge.
The planter boxes are made of pine T1-11 siding with #2 pine top frames and corner boards and preasure treated pine bases. Since these boxes will be placed near the house, they are painted (actually stained) with the same white with red trim color scheme as the house. To tie the whole property together, the siding and corner boards match the barn. To add durability, we lined the planter boxes with square plastic planters from a discount store. The demensions of the small planter boxes are 22" x 22" x 15"h and the demensions for the larger rectangular box are 22"w x 42"l x 15"h. The finish is Olympic solid-color latex stain.
