Woodworking Project - Kitchen Pot Rack
Back to the Rolling "M" Workshop Projects Page

While Shari and I were registering for Wedding gifts just after we bought the Ranch, we came across an old idea in a new form. We saw a very expensive chrome plated Pot Rack. Similar racks were quite common in colonial kitchens and in old farm houses such as ours. After a bit more shopping, we found a more traditional looking rack made of wrought iron, but it was still very expensive. Shari asked if I thought I could make such a thing. Rising to the challenge, here's what I came up with...

Since I'm a woodworker, not an iron worker, I decided to make our version of the pot rack out of wood rather than iron. The frame of the rack is clear pine. The top shelf is 1/4" plywood. The grid is made of rolled steel dowel stock. The Dimesions are 28"l x 16"w x 2 1/2"h. The finish is green Latex to match our kitchen trim with flat black enamel for the steel grid.
