Wiring: Basic & Advanced Projects is an excellent reference and how-to for the homeowner electrician. This isn't the kind of book that you read cover to cover in one sitting. Its intended as a reference and project manual for homeowners who have decided to tackle their own wiring. I've used several other references on electrical wiring and this is the most complete and easy to understand I've found. It gives you all of the information that you need to accomplish tasks as simple as replacing a broken light switch and as complex as wiring a new home. This book gave me the information that I needed to install an electrical subpanel in my barn, connect it to the main panel in my house, and wiring my entire workshop. I've also used its advice to ground my house's main panel, and rewire three rooms. I find myself reaching for this book every time I have to work with electricity around the house.
I picked up my copy at Lowes, but you can also find it at any major bookstore.
