Kids Corner . . . .
AfterSchool Club Studies Holy Week
What
a great group of kids we have in the AfterSchool Club.
This is a very busy month — so much to
accomplish in a short time!
The kids are learning about the Last Supper Jesus
had with his disciples.
Jesus took bread, blessed it, broke it, and
gave it to the disciples saying, “Take, eat; this is my body.”
Then he took a cup, and when he had given
thanks, he gave it to them saying, “Drink of it, all of you; for this is
my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the
forgiveness of sins.
I tell you I shall not drink again of this
fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my
Father's kingdom.”
The group will discuss Judas’ betrayal that Judas
planned ahead of time.
The kids will discover Judas’ greed was
stronger than his loyalty to Jesus.
Greed this destructive starts out small,
but when fed, overtakes all we are.
Jesus knew he was to be betrayed, warned
his disciples about it, and gave Judas every chance not to do it.
Judas looked Jesus in the eye and said,
"Surely not I, Rabbi?"
Another lesson will cover the Passover feast.
This lesson focuses on the fact that Jesus
obeyed the Jewish law and participated in the Passover feast.
Jesus provided his own memorial from the
elements of the Passover feast — a feast that memorialize an event which
was designed to foreshadow Christ's own death.
Finally, one of our sessions will explore
Jesus’ time in the Garden of Gethsemane.
CLICK Studies Apostles’ Creed
CLICK will
meet on Sunday, March 14th at 1:00 p.m. to study the Apostles‘ Creed.
The group will learn that the Apostles’ Creed is a
living proof of the Church’s stability since the time of Christ.
What keeps a society, any society, stable
for any length of time?
It is the agreement among its members on
certain basic principles.
As long as they agree on the fundamentals,
the society continues to exist, but once they disagree among themselves
on these basics, the society weakens and finally disappears.
Remember that the Creed is not just a collection
of words.
It is a set of convictions about the most
important realities in life.
When the ideas in our mind agree with
realities outside the mind, we possess the truth.
That is why the Apostles’ Creed is a series
of twelve truths about God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
He formed and about our eternal destiny.
Planning to Start for VBS
It is only March, but now is the time to start
planning for the community Vacation Bible School.
We will hold our first meeting on March
15th at 7:00 pm at the Virginia United Methodist Church.
This will be a very important meeting as the group
will be deciding which church will be hosting Vacation Bible School and
what curriculum we will be using this year.
All churches in the community are invited
to the meeting.
Any one interested in helping this year
please attend.
