2011 Spring Wing-Ding, Carterville, IL 4-16-11
(L to R) Jim and Sharon Clayton, Jim Semanski
This Honduras Maroon '62 is original paint.
Just to
make sure that we knew we were driving up to the right house, Jim had this '56
Buick in the driveway.
We
had a home tour conducted by Karen Semanski, and she has the home totally
'50's. I mean totally. She has done a fantastic job, and we all had
a great time.
I'm pretty sure that
nobody went away hungry. The Bar-B-Que and fixin's came from the famous
17th Street Bar-B-Que in Marion.
Karen
lectures at Logan Junior College on the history of Route 66 in Illinois.
We watched a slide show that she has created that combined Route 66 historic
places of interest with rockin' tunes.
Plus, we had
live music courtesy of Norman.
Yes, he played and sang
Nat King Cole's Route 66.
Of course
there was tire kicking. Here you see Jim Semanski, owner of JS Corvettes
in Carbondale, showing a '56 TBird. The owner can prove that Amanda Blake
(Miss Kitty) rode in this car in the 1956 Rose Bowl Parade. (L to R in a
circle) is CGRC VP Denny Coughlin, Judy Coughlin, Terry from Alaska, Jim
Semanski, Dennis Fontana, Jim Clayton, and SACC President Max Brockhouse.
So the good ol' Illinois weather wasn't all that hot, but everyone had a good time. If you missed it, you mised it.
