CGRC-SACC COZY DOG CRUISE IN, MARCH 12,2005
We
had a happy group converge on the Cozy Dog
Restaurant on old Rt. 66 in Springfield, Illinois.
Going around the table starting from the left,
Max Brockhouse, SACC VP, Jane Fontana,
Dennis Fontana, Sharon Clayton, Jim Clayton,
Carol May, Jim Knapp, Doc Hollada (standing),
Laura Lael, Dale Lael, Mike Duggins (hidden),
Mary Ellen Dillon, Dennis Coughlin, Gerri
Hollada, Mary Rae Brockhouse. The
dining room is packed with Rt. 66
memorabilia. No one went away
hungry.

Next we headed on over to the Illinois State
Military Museum. The building is known
appropriately as the "Castle."
Our
tour guide was PFC. Paul Golladay. Here
he explains a fighter plane trainer
to the solid axle group.
Girls
like men in uniform, even if they don't move
very much.
This
is Generalissimo Santa Anna's prosthetic
leg, brought back to Illinois by the Illinois
Infantry as a spoils of war. It was crafted
of cork in Baltimore, Md.
Here's
a BIG solid axle that we were invited
to help restore. It will take some doing
to get this one to pass NCRS guidelines.
Then
it was on over to a three story antique
mall. As you can see, there was something
for everyone on this outing.
Then we cruised to
the
Chesapeake House
Restaurant. Joining
the solid axle group
was our tour guide,
Paul Golladay, and his
wife, Beth, (right side
of picture.) When
dinner was concluded
Beth announced that
she now has Corvette on her mind.
We didn't
just eat and run, we
watched a video of the
'03 Flint convention. This
is a very well produced
video that may be shown
on the Speed Channel.
Also it will be on sale to the
public shortly.
So our Cozy Dog cruise-in had variety and excitement. The weather could
have been a
bit better, but it could have been a whole lot worse, too.
