Annual Meeting, 2009
Our annual meeting took place at 2pm at the 1910 gas station at Mid America's
Funfest. Here you
see the excited members. It was out of the ordinary - a lot was
done. Here's what happened:
1. Meeting was called to order by Doc Hollada.
2. The minutes of the last meeting were read, and treasurer's report was given
by Mary Rae Brockhouse. She reported that the light switch cover sales had
made enough money to cover the initial payment for the tour bus trip to
Nashville this coming convention. More on the convention later.
3. The 2010 National SACC convention plans were laid out by Dr. Hollada.
Our chapter is in the driver's seat on this one. The convention will be in
Bowling Green, KY in conjunction with the National Corvette Homecoming. It
was pointed out that the National Corvette Homecoming in Bowling Green, KY is in
our chapter's geography, just as Corvette Funfest is. The 2010 Convention
will be July 13 through July 16, at the University Holiday Inn and Sloan
Convention Center. On Tuesday, July 13, there will be an evening reception
with check-in. Wednesday, July 14 will be a road tour with
interesting stops. On Thursday, July 15 we will be going to the National
Corvette Museum, possibly including a luncheon. That evening there will be
a banquet preceded by a cocktail hour with music provided by Jack Hollada, DC,
and followed by a performance by Nashville's Moore and Moore. To see Moore
and Moore's video "Find Me a Man Like Goober:, click http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VO1py1hI4bk
Following the performance will be the annual SACC membership meeting.
On Friday, July 16 we will board a tour bus at 12:30, go to Nashville for a
city tour past star's homes, etc, then a buffet dinner at the Nashville
Nightlife Dinner Theater, and then we head over to the Grand Ole Opry.
Gray Lines will even give us a ride back to Bowling Green.
4.
Dennis Fontana has been on the Celebrity Choice hill at Funfest.
Since he's been there and done it, I asked Dennis to be our chapter's
Funfest Advisor, and he accepted.
5. At the 2009 Convention in Ventura, California, the SACC National Board
created three new positions and your humble president was asked to join the
board as Midwest Representative. A board member cannot be a chapter
officer, so I tendered my resignation as CGRC-SACC president. By unanimous
vote Chapter VP Mike Hausman was elected President. Then by unanimous vote
Denny Coughlin was elected VP.
6. VP Denny Coughlin outlined the plans for this spring's
chapter outing. St Louiee here we come! Date not set in stone yet,
but here's the plan:
1. Budweiser Brewery tour.
2. Restaurant right across the street
3. Convoy to Ted Drewes' Custard on old Rt
66.
7. National Corvette Homecoming President and CEO Joe Pruitt was on hand, and he gave a run-down of the plans for the 2010 Homecoming. He reported that the solid-axles will have prominent parking and will be featured. The 2009 Homecoming video is on Youtube. It is a high-energy music video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkcH13VYaqM
8. When it went from dark clouds to downpour and we had finished our business, meeting was adjourned.
