What a great weekend CGRC VP Mike Hausman put together! Here's a few pics of the places we experienced.
Metropolis,
Illinois is home of Superman. It
would stand to reason that the first place we
visited was the Superman Museum.
It's
amazing what a few vitamins will do.
Next we were
off on a convoy to Giant City State Park.
What can be better than following a beautiful solid-axle
through the rolling hills of Southern Illinois under a
cloudless autumn sky?
As
you will note, it was C1, C2, bow-tie, and a '30 Ford
in the parking lot.
And
what a great dinner we had in the
Shawnee Room of the Lodge.
It was fried chicken and all the fixin's.
(l to r) Judy Coughlin, Jeff VanHooser,
Ginnie VanHooser, Sharon Mahrley,
Steve Mahrley, Reggie Blades, Denny
Coughlin, Doc Hollada, Jim Semanski, Karen Semanski, Cliff Porter, Ronnie
Farmer, Dennis Fontana, and CGRC VP Mike Hausman.
Next
we buzzed
on over to JS Corvettes.
Pictured are owners
Jim and Karen
Semanski. Located
right on Highway 13,
there are plastic
treasures to be found
inside. By the way, the
area code is 618.
This
is part of the
showroom. That's
Joe and Jon
Semanski in the
center.
And
here's a diamond
in the rough. An original
paint, original just about
everything '62.
This
room is right off the
showroom area. It was
decorated by Karen to
be a retro-style lunch room.
Then
we paraded cross town
to the Hundley House. This
most interesting house was
the site of a shocking double
murder in the 20's. Now it
is interesting shops nestled
in period architecture.
With
the exception of
Tootsie's (Karen Semanski's)
sign, everything is for sale.
Entrepreneur
spirit reigns
supreme here. Frank Ward
and Karen Semanski ham
it up for the camera.
How's that for a great weekend. As I've said before, if
you missed it, you missed it.
If you are not already a member of CGRC, hmmm, maybe you might think about
joining.
We don't just meet, eat, and talk about lock washers.
